Instructions On How To Elongate Laptop Battery's Life

There are 3 main types of laptop batteries - Nickel Cadmium (NiCd), Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH) and Lithium Ion (LiON). They vary in price, weight and specifications. All modern laptops have lightweight LiON or lithium polymer batteries that are usually pre-installed in laptops. These batteries are powerful enough to run laptops as well as accessories, such as mp3 players, DVD players and USB devices. They are not that heavyweight as NiCd and NiMH batteries and have no memory defect. If deployed in the proper way, LiON batteries are expected to run for about three years, but it is essential to clarify that the three-year period of time starts once batteries are made and not when they are actually exploited. A laptop battery needs to be replaced when the pc cannot function any longer unless attached to the supply of electricity through an adaptor. Here are some guidelines to prolong battery's longevity. • Frequent full discharges of a laptop battery shorten its life. Several partial discharges with frequent recharges are better for lithium-ion batteries than a complete discharge. Recharging partially charged lithium-ion batteries does not cause harm, since there is no memory. Short laptop battery's life in a laptop primarily hangs upon the high temperatures rather than charge - discharge patterns. • It is recommended to fully discharge a laptop battery after thirty charges. Otherwise, the fuel gauge will get considerably less precise and can cause a premature cut-off of the laptop. • Keep a lithium-ion pc battery cool. • Consider removing a battery from a laptop when it is run on a fixed power. (Some laptop manufacturers express concern for moisture and dust accumulating inside the laptop battery casing.) • Avoid buying spare lithium-ion batteries for later deployment. Observe manufacturing dates. Do not buy old stock, even if it is sold at clearance costs. • If you have got a spare lithium-ion pc battery, use one to the fullest and keep the other one cool by putting it into the fridge. Do not freeze the battery. For longer storage, keep the laptop battery at a 40% charge level. Before exploiting any laptop, read a manual supplied.
